Generous donation and a touching testimonial

We were thrilled to receive the £ 500.00 donation from Maldon Salt Company who run an in-house Employee Charity Scheme.  Their staff members are asked to select a charity close to their hearts for the Board Members to donate a sum of money to two chosen charities.

Their National Account Manager Chris Connell chose Essex Dementia Care and we were humbled by his story and his heartfelt testimonial for our service shared below: –

I am thrilled that Essex Dementia Care has been chosen this month as part of the Maldon Salt Company Employee Charity Initiative.

Growing up, dementia was a condition that was never on my radar, an ignorance born out of never having a friend or relative having any form of the disease.  It was subsequently a huge shock to both myself and my family when my mother began showing symptoms of a particular form of dementia and eventually received a diagnosis.  This slow and steady decline in the health of my mother and the way that it manifests in certain behaviours has been the biggest challenge in recent years that my family have experienced, however, my eyes have been opened to the complexities of dementia and the adaptations needed to navigate day-to-day life.

Furthermore, I have gained a true appreciation for the care sector and organisations that provide support for people and families living with dementia.  Essex Dementia Care embody this and offer the opportunity for guidance, purpose, and joy at a time in peoples’ lives that might otherwise be overwhelmingly difficult and lonely.  I thank Essex Dementia Care ad its practitioners for their continued dedication to making the lives of people with dementia brighter and hope that my nomination for this initiative goes some way to supporting their work.”
