Essex Dementia Care were invited by Broomfield Village Hall to have a table at their Queen’s Jubilee, Festival of Hope on 4th June. EDC hires a space from the hall to host their ‘Every Day Counts’ activity based dementia care group and this was an ideal opportunity for EDC to get the message out locally about all the services they offer.

Kelly Bleasedale, EDC Senior Manager said “We really enjoyed the day which turned out to be a lovely function for families with many activities, music, dancing, and lots of interesting stalls.
The day kicked off at 12 pm and we soon had people visiting our stand. We really enjoyed re-connecting with existing clients, chatting to those we have not seen for a while and making new friends.
To create excitement and to get people to our stand to make donations, we ran three competitions. The first was to guess the weight of a beautiful Jubilee cake made by Katie our talented cook and won by Heidi who was very close at 7lb 5 oz, just one ounce too much! Heidi won the cake, a gorgeous tin of jubilee biscuits from M & S Braintree and a bottle of bubbly!

The second competition was to guess how many delicious sweets there were in the bag donated by The Sweet Tooth Company. There were 326 and three little girls guessed 310, winning the sweets and a free meal for two, compliments of The Orange Tree Braintree.
And last but not least, there was the ‘Guess the elephant’s name’ competition, won by Evie, who collects elephants and was overjoyed to win Eloise – well done to all our winners!
We would like to thank everyone who took the trouble to visit our stand and Broomfield Hall for inviting us to attend such an organised and fun event.”
The EDC ‘Every Day Counts’ group meets at the Broomfield Village Hall, Chelmsford on Fridays from 11am – 4pm.
