This is a very special testimonial that makes us proud that we were able to help June and her family but also will reassure those considering our services that their loved ones are in good hands.
“June was assessed and diagnosed with Alzheimer’s about 3 years ago and we were then advised of support services to enable June to live independently and confidently for as long as possible.
We were signposted to Essex Dementia Care and subsequently made contact with the service about 2 years ago.
Most of the family lived a long way from Witham so were concerned about social isolation particularly in the midst of the pandemic. I was able to have lengthy chats with Sharon Jones prior to the assessment of June’s needs which we were unable to attend due to distance. Sharon and her colleagues were able to take into account our concerns and June’s needs. We were very confident that due to Essex Dementia Care’s specialist training they would be able to engage with June’s difficult nature and resistance in accepting help and engagement with people who were coming into her home.
I was always able to make phone calls to raise concerns and to plan appointments for home visits which would take into account her few ongoing activities in which she was still able to participate. We were confident that she would have the same worker, Debbie, who June established a good rapport with. June always looked forward to her visits. The visits were person centred and reactive to needs which included shopping and going out for coffee or lunch.
As June’s health deteriorated, the visits continued both in hospital and in a nursing home.
I was always aware that Essex Dementia Care could increase their input with June had she been able to remain at home for longer. I consider that the visits were good value for money.
I would never hesitate to recommend Essex Dementia Care to anyone who needed this service.
With many thanks
Sally and Graham Welham”
