We received this testimonial and the contents just re-affirms how our activity centres can really help to shine a light in the darkness for clients and their loved ones on the dementia journey.
“Mum started as a taster at Sandon Day Centre on Tuesday April 18th.She had never been to anything like this before and I stayed with her for the 1st. session. It will be 2 years this November since mum has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and gradually this disease has taken my mum away, but within a few short minutes to my amazement my mum came back to me in that session.
She was smiling and laughing, joining in on the activities and being cheeky, that was my mum. It was a little overwhelming to see as I had my mum back even for an afternoon and now she may not remember a lot of recent activities, but she looks forward to the day centre every week even though I do not stay with her. Thank goodness for Sandon Day Centre it has brought mum back to me, and I must not forget to mention the kindness of the staff there and social services has been amazing.
Kind Regards.
