‘Memory Companions’ Sarah and Kerry drove to Milton Keynes on a Saturday to visit Joan, a former client who had moved away and gone into care. They were happy to see Joan looking so well and she was so happy to see them.
Joan’s birthday is the 9th of March, so they arranged to take her out to Prezzo for lunch as a treat. Joan was so excited to be going out and at the restaurant said how great it was to hear the hustle and bustle because at the home everything is quite.
Joan chose a pizza for lunch as she doesn’t have them in the home and thoroughly enjoyed it. After the meal, they asked the staff to surprise Joan with a little birthday cake and the other guests all sang and cheered for Joan, it was so lovely and heartwarming to see.
In the car, Sarah played Joan her favourite song that she used to sing when Andy Vocals visited the Sandon group. The song was ‘living next door to Alice’ and Joan’s cheeky side appeared again when she sang the rude version which had them all in fits of laughter!
Sarah and Kerry said It was so great to see Joan again and looking so content. Her home is lovely and she was telling them about the other residents who she has met there. Joan remembered meeting with One2One clients Mary and Sheila on a Thursday and enjoyed looking at old photos from their trips out and time in the centre.
